Clean Up The World Campaign

HO CHI MINH CITY: CLEAN UP THE WORLD ACTIVITIES 2009

The Australian Government will support Vietnam’s 2009 Clean up the World campaigns, including activities in Ho Chi Minh city on the morning of Saturday, 26 September 2009 at the Phan Xich Long Residential Buidings in Phu Nhuan District. This is the 15th year the Australian Goverment, through the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Australian Embassy in Ha Noi has supported Clean up the World campaigns in Vietnam.

To support Vietnam’s Clean up the World campaign, the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City organised a writng competition on the environment for high school students in Ho Chi Minh city. The competition received a high level of support from local schools and students. All entries expressed a strong awareness about environmental issues.

The Australian Consulate General is proud the announce:

- Tran Thanh Lam – year 11 student at Australian Academies: winner of this competition.

- Le Cao Tri – year 11 student at Saigon International College: recognition award for the entry.

- Pham Thi Minh Thu – year 11 student at Bui Thi Xuan High School: recognition award for the entry.

The Clean up the World campaigns was started by one Australian, Mr. Ian Kiernan, in 1989. This year over 35 million people in 120 countries will take part in the compaign. The theme for this year Clean up the World is “Community Uniting to Combat Climate Change”, which reflects UNEP’s World Environment Day slogan: “Your Planet Needs You-  Unite to Combat Climate Change”.

That was so amazing that I’ve been the one in the 3 people won this competition for high school students in Ho Chi Minh city. I will honorly remember this, as a part of my life ^^
